October 2 Cordoba, Spain - Recital with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj in the Gran Teatro. From El Diario de Cordoba, 3 October 2003: "Each of the pieces in the recital received a prolonged ovation which became an infinite one after the final piece"

October 4 and 6 Barcelona, Spain - Singing for his home town with a private concert at the Luz de Gas (right) on October 4 to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the famous Barcelona night club, and singing in a concert on October 6 at the Palau Sant Jordi as part of Catalonia's celebration of Dia Internacional de la Gent Gran. (The UN International Day of Older People)

October 11 Taipei, Taiwan - "A Night of Carreras Classics" concert at the National Concert Hall with David Gimenez conducting. At  a press conference on October 9 (see photo right) representatives of the Taiwan Bone Marrow Transplant Association presented Carreras with a plaque honouring his work for leukaemia patients.

October 15 Seoul, Korea - concert in the World Cup Stadium with soprano Shin Young-ok, David Gimenez conducting.

October 20 Hong Kong - concert for the Hong Kong Harbour Fest with Charlotte Church and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. From The Straits Times "The operatic voices of world-renowned tenor Jose Carreras and 17-year-old diva Charlotte Church hit high notes in Hong Kong on Monday, but ticket sales failed to match the heights of their performances."

October 23 Osaka,  Japan -  the Japan tour begins with a recital in the Osaka Symphony Hall accompanied by pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. Further recitals took place on October 26 in Yokohama in the Minato Mirai Hall;
November 1 & 4
in Tokyo in the Suntory Hall; and November 8 in Sapporo in the Kitara Concert Hall.

November 12 Sydney, Australia - charity recital in the Sydney Opera House with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. The proceeds from the recital were donated to the Leukaemia Foundation of New South Wales and the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation.

November 16 Perth, Australia -  outdoor twilight concert with soprano Rachelle Durkin and the Western Australia Symphony Orchestra in The Supreme Court Gardens.

November 21 Wellington, New Zealand - recital in the Michael Fowler Centre. The photo (right) shows Carreras at the traditional Maori welcome ceremony in Wellington. A further recital took place on November 23 in Auckland at the Aotea Centre

November 29 London, UK - sings at private charity ball in aid of The Rainbow Trust with James Brown and Brian Ferry. The ball, which took place in the Natural History Museum raised $3.4 million for the children's charity.  The museum was was specially lit for the occasion to create a spectacular Rainbow effect. (See photo right)
December 3 New York City - recital with Lorenzo Bavaj in Carnegie Hall (Isaac Stern Auditorium)

December 5  Happy Birthday Maestro Carreras!
December 7 Munich, Germany - concert in the Philharmonie. After the performance, José Carreras was presented with the 2003 JCarreras.com

December 10 London, UK - Christmas concert in the Royal Albert Hall with Hayley Westenra. In the photo (right) Carreras backstage at the Royal Albert Hall presenting Hayley Westenra with a platinum disc for her album Pure.

December 12 Madrid, Spain - private charity concert in the Palace de Madrid hotel, accompnaied by pianist Lorenzo  Bavaj. The funds raised were in aid of the Queen Sofía Foundation Alzheimer's Project .

December 13 Modena, Italy - attends the wedding of his friend and colleague, Luciano Pavarotti to Nicoletta Mantovani.

December 16 Leipzig, Germany - visits patients in the Children's Cancer Clinic at the University of Leipzig. The clinic is one of the recipients of funds raised by the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation.

December 18 Leipzig, Germany - The annual José Carreras Gala raises over 6.2 million Euros for leukemia research. This year Luciano Pavarotti was one of the guests on the show, singing two duets with Carreras, Ave Maria and O Come All Ye Faithful.  The photo (right) shows Carreras and Pavarotti at the rehearsals for the show.

December  Barcelona, Spain - The José Carreras International Foundation launches its new web site at www.fcarreras.org.The site now has full-colour copies of the Foundation Newsletters on line, improved navigation,  and expanded sections on the work of the Foundation  and information for patients and their families.
