January 17 Gijón, Spain - recital with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj in the Teatro Jovellanos. In the photo (right), Carreras and Bavaj enter the stage of the sold-out theatre which had installed extra seating on the stage to meet the demand for tickets.

January 18 Madrid, Spain - presentation of a new bone marrow donor drive - "Hazte socio" - by the Fundación José Carreras at the Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús. In the photo (right) Carreras talks to one of the young patients at the hospital.

January 20 Segovia, Spain - recital in the Teatro Juan Bravo with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj.  The demand for tickets was such that a large screen were set up in the plaza (photo right) outside the theatre  where several hundred more people watched the performance.

January 27 Esbjerg, Denmark - recital in the Esbjerg Musikhuset with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj and the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano.

January 31 Girona, Spain - presentation of a lithograph donated by Belgian artist, Robert Vandereycken, to be sold in a limited edition of 75 prints in aid of the Fundació Internacional Josep Carreras. The entire run of prints sold out in a matter of days after being released. This was the second work in a continuing initative from the Fons d'Art d'Olot gallery to create a collection of graphic art in aid of the Carreras Foundation.   In the photo (right) Carreras with Mercè Coll, the Director of the Fons d'Art d'Olot Gallery, and artist Robert Vandereycken.

March 10 Vienna, Austria -  gala concert «Belle Epoque» in the Wiener Konzerthaus. Carreras was accompanied by pianist Lorenzo Bavaj and the Junge Philharmonie Wien with Michael Lessky conducting. The concert also marked the presentation of Carreras' new CD Belle Epoque. On

, he appeared at the Theater an der Wien for a Künstlergespräch under the auspices of the Freunde der Wiener Staatsoper.

March 17 Baden-Baden, Germany - concert in the  Festspielhaus with the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano and pianist Lorenzo Bavaj which opened the Belle Epoque German tour. A further concert took place in Munich on March 22 in the Philharmonie im Gasteig.

March 24 Oldenburg, Germany - concert in the  Oldenburg Arena before an audience of 2400 as the Belle Epoque German tour continues.

March 25 Dortmund, Germany - receives the Steiger-Award 2006 for Charity. Other awardees for 2006 included Boris Becker (Sport), Mohammed El-Baradei (Tolerance), Prof. Heinz Sielmann (Environment) and Sabine Christiansen (Media).  In the photo (right) Carreras with Gabriele Inaara Begum Aga Khan at the award dinner in the Casino Hohensyburg.
