July 1 Cuenca, Spain - concert in the Teatro-Auditorio de Cuenca with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj and the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano. The concert formed part of the region's celebrations for the 4th Centenary of Don Quijote.

July 5 Barcelona, Spain - press conference with Joan Laporta, the chairman of Barcelona FC, to launch a joint initiative with the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation to encourage bone marrow donation from Spain's immigrant community.

July 7 Pula, Croatia - concert at the Histria Festival  with soprano Inva Mula and the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Giménez. In the photo (right) Carreras arriving at Pula Airport on July 6th.

July 10 Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina - concert in the Zetra Hall with the Sarajevo Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Giménez. The concert marked Carreras' return to Sarajevo 12 years after performing in Mozart's Requiem Mass in the  burned-out National Library to raise money for rebuilding of the Bosnian capital which had been largely destroyed by Serb shelling.

July 15 Patras, Greece - concert in the ancient Roman Odeon theatre with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj and the Patras Mandolin Orchestra conducted by Thanasis Tsipinakis.  The concert formed part of the celebrations of Patras as the 2006 European Capital of Culture.

July 27 Heidelberg, Germany - Carreras joined the 'Goldenen Baustein' campaign to save the Heidelberg Theatre by buying a 'gold brick' for 100 Euro and signing two others to be auctioned later. In the photo (right), Carreras signs one of the bricks for director Peter Spuhler.

July 28 Weinheim, Germany - open air concert in the Schlosspark with soprano Sabina Puertolas and the Heidelberger Philharmoniker, conducted by David Giménez. July 30 Rocca San Casciano (Forlì), Italy - open-air concert with soprano Cristina Cappellini and the Orchestra Gioacchino Rossini conducted by Miguel Ortega. During the concert Carreras was presented with the 8th annual Fondazione Ugo Becattini Prize for his humanitarian work in the fight against leukemia.

August 2 Veroli, Italy - concert at the Abbazia di Casamari with soprano Cristina Cappellini and the Orchestra Giocchino Rossini conducted by Miguel Ortega as part of the Festival Lirico di Casamari.

August 5 Lorca, Spain - concert with pianist Lorenzo Bavaj and the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano in the town's Fortaleza del Sol as part of Espirelia 2006.

August 19 & 20 Calella de Palafrugell, Spain - joint performance with flamenco dancer Sara Baras at the Festival Jardins de Cap Roig. Following its great success at the box office and with the audience, Carreras and Baras said they hope to take the show, which includes songs by Manuel de Falla and Enrique Granados, to various theatres around the world.

September 1 Holkham, UK - open air concert before an audience of 5000 people on the grounds Holkam Hall with soprano Kate Royal and the City of London Sinfonia conducted by David Giménez.

September 4 Moscow, Russia - concert in  the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International Music House on the occasion of the City Day of Moscow. During the concert Carreras was presented with the gold medal of the Order of Mikhail Lomonosov which is awarded for services to Russia in the fields of culture and science.

September 13 Fleurier, Switzerland - attends the opening of the Chopard watch museum and celebration of the 10th anniversary of the company's Fleurier plant. In the photo (right) Carreras poses in front of the display cases in the new museum.

September 22 Fuenlabrada, Spain - attends the opening ceremony for the city's new theatre, El Teatro Josep Carreras. The mayor, Manuel Robles, said that the city had chosen to name the theatre after Carreras "to recognize and pay homage to a great artist whose social committment through his Foundation and fight against leukemia has helped so many people, including several from Fuenlabrada."

September 30 Ciudad Juárez, Mexico - concert for the 2nd Festival Internacional Chihuahua in the esplanade of the Centro Cívico Paso del Norte with the combined orchestras, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua and Orquesta Filarmónica del Estado de Chihuahua, David Giménez conducting. Over 20,000 people attended the free concert and according to El Diario, there were 5 encores and a standing ovation with a good time had by all.
