October 5 Miami, Florida - appearance in a concert with Gloria Estefan, Bernadette Peters, Andy Garcia, Quincy Jones and others to inaugurate the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. In the photo (right) Carreras performing with Gloria Estefan.

October 20 Xi'an City, China - participation in a concert with Dai Yuqiang, Liu Huan, Peng Liyuan and others at the Daming Palace as part of the run-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. As promised, he sang a song in Mandarin Chinese 'In a place far away", and was reportedly greatly applauded by the audience. In the photo (right) Carreras arrives in Xi'an and faces an army of journalists.

October 26 Frankfurt, Germany - together with his wife, Carreras visits the children's ward of Universitätsklinik hospital. In the photo (right), Carreras with Samed, a young leukemia patient.

October 27 Marburg, Germany - Carreras receives an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine at the Philipps-Universität for the contribution of the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation to medical reasearch and patient welfare. In the photo (right), Carreras giving his acceptance speech at the conferral ceremony which took place in the Marburg Castle.

October 28 Dortmund, Germany - 'Belle Epoque' concert in the Dortmund Konzerthaus with the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano and pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. In the photo (right) Carreras acknowledges the audience's applause at the end of the concert.

November 28 Maidstone, UK - Opens a new wing at Maidstone Hospital in Kent for the treatment of patients with leukemia and related blood diseases. The following evening, November 29, Carreras sang in a gala benefit concert with Diva Opera held at Lincoln's Inn in London.

November 30 Dubai - private concert with Lebanese singer Hiba Kawas and the City of London Sinfonia conducted by David Giménez to mark the 2nd anniversary of the Dubai International Financial Centre. Then off to nearby Qatar, where on December 1, Carreras sang with another Lebanese singer, Magida El Roumi, at the opening ceremony for the 15th Asian games (photo right).

December 12 London, UK - 60th Anniversary Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra, David Giménez conducting. Guests included soprano Natasha Marsh, the London boys choir - Libera, and the winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year competition. The evening culminated in "Happy Birthday" sung to Carreras by the choirs and audience.

December 14 Leipzig, Germany - 12th Annual Leukemia Benefit Gala on ARD television. The Gala which included amongst its guests, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Sting, Robin Gibb, and Chris de Burgh raised over $6.5 million for the treatment and care of leukemia patients and research into finding a cure for the disease. December 18 Seoul, Korea - Carreras' Asian tour begins with a Christmas concert in The Seoul Arts Center with David Giménez conducting the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and guest soprano Giorgia Fumanti.

December 21 Tokyo, Japan - concert in the Bunkamura Orchard Hall with David Giménez conducting the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra. A further concert was held on December 23 in Nishinomiya, Japan. In the photo (right) Carreras and Giménez backstage at the Nishinomiya concert

December 31 Taipei, Taiwan - New Year's Eve gala concert in the Taipei Arena with the David Giménez conducting the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra and guest soprano Giorgia Fumanti. In the photo (right) José and Jutta Carreras are welcomed to the Grand Formosa Regent Hotel in Taipei by General Manager Francesco Borello on December 27th.
