July 14 Parma, Italy - open air concert in the inner court of the Pilotta Palace with the sopranos Ruth Rosique and Gladys Rossi and the orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Parma conducted by David Giménez. In the photo (right) Carreras ackowledges the audience's applause. On July 18, Carreras and the orchestra were in concert at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. On that occasion, his guest soprano was Sabina Puértolas.

August 18 Schwerin, Germany - concert in the gardens of the Schwerin castle with soprano Rebeca Olvera, conducted by David Giménez. In the photo (right) all three take a bow at the end of the concert. The performance was the start of a gala concert tour in Germany with concerts on August 20 in Erfurt, August 22 in Dresden, August 25 in Ransbach-Baumbach, and August 30 in Mönchengladbach.

September 15 Vila-seca, Spain - concert in Auditori Josep Carreras in aid of the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation. The concert marked the launch of his new artistic project "Belcanto en el cinema". Performing with Carreras were the tenor Sergi Giménez and the soprano Pilar Jurado. September 25 Marburg, Germany - official opening of a new special treatment ward in the Carreras Leukemia Center. The previous day he was in Regensburg where he was named an honourary senator of Regensburg University for his dedication to the fight against leukaemia.
